Become a Governor

Join us as a local trust wide Governor

Leaf Trust has more than 100 committed volunteers currently from our local communities who care deeply about ensuring the lifelong success of the young people in our care.

Volunteering as a local trust wide governor is a challenging but rewarding role that offers the opportunity to make a difference for children and young people in your community.

The Leaf Trust is a family of 13 primary schools currently, inclusive of both non faith and faith schools. All within a close radius within South Gloucestershire.

You can find out more about the governance structure of our trust here: Leaf Governance Framework 2023

We would welcome contact from anyone who would be interested in discussing the skills and experience required and the benefits of becoming a local governor within our governance community across Leaf Trust.

Role of our School Governing Forums

Each of our 13 schools has a School Governing Forum (SGF) with on average 8 members. Governor positions are either elected (parent and staff roles), appointed for a faith school as foundation governors or apply to be a local trust wide governors. Every member within the SGF according to their interest or skills has a responsibility to one of portfolio areas within the Leaf Trust governance structure as a link role representing that school.

A SGF provides a vital role in maintaining the school identity, vision and values and in faith schools its religious character. They are essential to the success of our schools, as they are responsible for holding the Head teachers and their leadership teams to account for the quality and effectiveness of the whole school experience.

The SGF supports and assists the Headteacher to steer the school towards creating a fun and safe learning environment ensuring that all children have equal opportunities to develop and flourish and to attain or progress to the best of their ability, whilst ensuring compliance, progress to improvement and ready for OFSTED/SIAMS inspection.
